Las Vegas Summit on Dementia Capable Hospital to Home Care Transitions
On Tuesday, January 16th, the Splaine Consulting team will attend a Dementia Capable Hospital to Home Care Transitions Summit in Las Vegas. In addition to a morning plenary session, Senator Joyce Woodhouse will join the Summit as lunch speaker. Senator Woodhouse chairs the Committee to Study the Needs Related to the Behavioral & Cognitive Care of Older Persons for the Nevada Legislature. Splaine Consulting to Present at ASA’s Aging in America Conference
In March of 2018, Mike Splaine and Kate Gordon will be heading to San Francisco to present at the American Society on Aging’s Aging in America conference. Nearly 3,000 aging professionals are expected to attend. Mike will present at two symposiums and a roundtable event on dementia policy and practice-related topics, public health and aging issues, and more. ADI Conference: July 26-29, 2018
Abstracts are currently being accepted for the 33rd International Conference of Alzheimer’s Disease International, to be held this year in the “windy city” of Chicago! Presentations will cover the latest science, care, and treatment of dementia from the global dementia community, Alzheimer associations, and people living with dementia and their care partners worldwide. International Gerontechnology Conference: May 7-11, 2018
Members of the International Society for Gerontechnology develop and research technologies that aid many of the vulnerable older adults on whose behalf Splaine Consulting advocates. Their bi-annual conference is the world’s largest gathering of researchers, product designers and developers, and practitioners in the field of technology & aging. NAPSA and NCPEA Release New Elder Abuse Brief
The National Adult Protective Services Association (NAPSA), in conjunction with the National Committee for the Prevention of Elder Abuse (NCPEA), are pleased to release a new Research to Practice (R2P) Brief, titled Social Support Can Diminish Negative Effects of Elder Abuse, by Drs. Yunsoo Park & Carrie Mulford. The R2P series links cutting-edge research with everyday practice in adult protective services. This brief and others are available on the website.
Recommended Reading: Dementia Plans Small Papers
Alzheimer’s Disease International undertook a review of existing national and sub-national dementia plans from around the world in relation to a number of topic areas. The resulting information has been transferred into a series of small papers that provide a detailed overview and comparison of the approaches taken by governments.
